An explanation.......

I am taking a break from Instagram for a while and instead of some lengthy explanation on IG that would bore the socks off most of my followers I thought I would just put up a blog post for anyone interested.

Everything is in full swing here at the moment. The lovely weather has put the garden and veg plot into overdrive and I am having to prioritise the basics like grass cutting, watering and fruit/veg picking over the nice things like digging a hole for the pond that has been propped against the back wall of the house for the last two years!I know I need to get out more if pond digging counts as fun but I don't get the time. This old house is a demanding mistress and as I write this my poor husband is trying to wash it down (painted weatherboarding) in the dark. He wouldn't usually be doing this particular activity in the dark but we had a nightmare time getting the baby chickens in tonight.

As usual I had taken my place at one end of the chicken run with a child's fishing net (it's the only way to safely catch the birds) Merri was offering moral support until she fell into the run with the birds! How she managed this I don't know but with the ensuing chaos three managed to escape. Luckily Merri being the American Cocker Spaniel has only love for the birds unlike Boo who would have killed the lot. Anyway, two of the birds were fairly easily retrieved but the third hen managed to get under the very overgrown area housing the horse box. My husband and I finally located the hen in a patch of stingers and as I bent down to grab her she made a last ditched effort to escape. Luckily for me she landed on the upturned wheel barrow wheel and all her flapping and running was in vain as the wheel acted like a tread mill and she went nowhere!!I know you couldn't make this stuff up could you??

Any way... with all the maintenance here, constant painting, gardening and animals something has to give and that is going to be IG. If I come across any interesting recipes I will continue to post them and as soon as things calm down I will hopefully be back. Thank you for all the likes and follows x
